Yes — crown placement after root canal treatment is strongly recommended, particularly for back teeth (premolars and molars) that bear heavy biting forces. Root-filled teeth lose much of their structural strength and become brittle without the pulp's hydration function. An uncrowned root-filled tooth is highly susceptible to vertical fracture under normal chewing — which would require extraction. For front teeth with minimal existing damage, a well-placed composite restoration may sometimes suffice — your endodontist will advise specifically.
Root canal treatment has a very high success rate — particularly with our microscope-assisted approach. However, no clinical procedure carries a 100% guarantee. In cases where a previously treated tooth develops new symptoms or signs of infection (called failed RCT), endodontic retreatment is often possible and successful.
